Maldives 4

About five dives were spent watching giant mantas with up to ten foot wing span swim around and hover over divers’ heads.  Some were followed by remoras.  The mantas kept swimming in circles and looping around.  They seemed to enjoy the divers attention and especially an outstretched arm.  These mantas did not, however, seem to want to be touched by divers as did the giant mantas of  Socorro Island off of Mexico.   The mantas had white markings on their bodies.

One dive a hawksbill turtle was so hungry, that he only came up long enough for air and allowed divers to be right next to him while he ate his lunch of soft coral.
